Public Works Week Insights


The Public Works Department provides many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives and works in Deer Park. Primarily, the department is responsible for all the things we take for granted on a daily basis: administration, planning, maintenance, construction management and technical engineering of the City's infrastructure, and more. This includes the production and distribution of over 1.5 billion gallons of water per year and the treatment of over 3 million gallons of waste water per day. A lot of the time the Public Works Department could be considered the "unsung hero." As long as trash is picked up, toilets flush, sewers drain, traffic signals work and clean drinking water is supplied, most people don't even give us a second thought. If you don't have to think about us, then I guess that means we are doing our job well.

In 2018, National Public Works Week is celebrated from May 20-26. During this week we would like to draw attention to each of our divisions, highlight them, and explain exactly what it is they do for the City and how important it is.
