  1. Storytime - Live Facebook

    April 15, 2021, 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM @ Deer Park Public Library

    Beginning April 8th, 2021 Storytime will alternate between outdoor in person sessions and live virtual sessions on Facebook. Outdoor sessions will be held in the field behind the library. In case of bad weather, Storytime will be broadcast Live on Facebook. Storytime is designed to encourage a love for books and language and incorporates books, fingerplays, and songs to promote interest in reading and lifelong learning. Caregivers are encouraged to watch with the children and encourage participation. Please stay in touch on social media for the latest updates.

Deer Park Public Library's Spanish Listening and Discussion Club chooses an audio feature story in Spanish set in Latin American and also reads the transcript. Then, we meet online to talk about it.     Please join us for an online Featured Friday Event: Inside the Texas Revolution - The Enigmatic Memoir of Herman Ehrenberg, presented by Dr. James Crisp (professor emeritus at North Carolina State University). Herman Ehrenberg wrote the most complete and vivid memoir of any soldier in the Texas Revolution. But some of what he said was not true. And he wrote it in German, with a message about the Texas Revolution to fellow Germans in Europe. This Virtual Featured Friday Series Event is free and everyone is welcome!     Author Adam Higginbotham spent more than 10 years interviewing witnesses and reviewing documents about the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which happened on an April night 35 years ago. The result was the award-winning book Midnight in Chernobyl about the disaster and how it changed history.     To legally hunt in the State of Texas you need certification. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in conjunction with the City of Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department offer this classroom course that will permit/certify you to legally hunt in the State of Texas. Certification is good for a lifetime.
