Do I need to hire an attorney to represent me in court?
No, you can represent yourself or retain an attorney to represent you. The municipal court will not appoint you an attorney. No person, other than an attorney, can represent you. This applies to parents of juveniles. If you are not an attorney, you cannot represent your child in a trial.
