Community Liaison


sheilaThe position of Community Liaison was created in 2007 to assist the Department in strengthening its ties to the community.  The Liaison coordinates efforts between the public and the Department throughout the year.  Among the programs facilitated by the Liaison are the Citizens' Police Academy (CPA), the CPA Alumni Association, Sector Meetings, the Neighborhood Watch ProgramNational Night Out block parties, Kids' Fishing Day, Health & Safety Fairs, and various other community activities. 
 
The Community Liaison is also responsible for maintaining active, as well as non active, registered sex offenders in the City of Deer Park.  Training for legislative updates is attended bi-annually in order to receive updated information regarding new laws pertaining to sex offenders.  The number of registered sex offenders in Deer Park can vary from day to day.  For an updated list of the currently registered sex offenders in Deer Park, go to: https://records.txdps.state.tx.us/DPS_WEB/SorNew/index.aspx
 
The Deer Park Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming FREE Citizen's Police Academy. 
 
Classes will begin August 26, 2010 from 7:00p.m.-10:00p.m. The CPA is 13 weeks of interactive, informative fun getting to know the inner workings of the police department.  Each week officers and police employees cover their area of expertise regarding the how's and why's of policing.  Topics range from Community Policing, SWAT, defensive tactics, firearms, investigations, dispatch and much more.   

 

If you are 18 or older, live, work, attend school or church in Deer Park, we welcome your participation.  There are no physical requirements for attending the classes, however we do complete background checks on each applicant.
