Investigations/ Property Room

det badgeThe Investigations Division is commanded by Lieutenant Wade Conner and consists four general investigators. Each Investigator is assigned to a particular sector of the city and is assigned all criminal cases needing follow-up investigations within that sector.  All of the Department's investigators are knowledgeable and capable of working any type of crime, hence the term general investigator. They work as a team to help each other on more severe crimes but the lead Investigator will be that sector's Investigator. The only exception to this involves sexual crimes against children, which do require an Investigator with more training.

The Deer Park Police Department - Investigations Division is committed to the safety of Deer Park and will investigate all crimes to attempt to obtain a final result.

The Investigations Division also encompasses the Crime Scene Officer and Evidence Custodian. These two positions are highly technical positions. The Crime Scene Officer accumulates and processes evidence located at crime scenes. This can be fingerprints, blood, firearms etc. He processes some items in our own crime lab and also sends other items off to more advanced forensic labs. He is further highly trained to locate evidence that could otherwise be overlooked on a crime scene.

The Evidence Custodian is responsible for the orderly filing and handling of all property entering the police department. This can be found property, evidentiary property or lost or stolen property. The Evidence Custodian is further responsible for the final disposition of all property in accordance with state law.
