Signature Holes

Hole !7

This 175 yard is a signature hole for the Battleground. A stair-step waterfall accents the edge of a lake which fronts the green. The putting surface is slightly elevated, but the fact that it is not very deep makes club selection a top priority. The fact that this is a double green, shared with the par 5 first hole can make the landing area look larger than necessary, but attacking the pin shouldn't be out of the question.

hole 5

Perhaps the most interesting hole on the course, this par 5 features a fairway bordered by water on the right and a severe dogleg to the left. Typical drives will land just short of an inlet of water that crosses the fairway at the dogleg. Only big hitters should worry about driving into it. The green can be reached in two, but that would take on an all carry approach from about 245 yards or more to reach a relatively small green surrounded by water on three sides and sand on the other. Conventional wisdom has players bailing right on the second shots and approaching the green on the landlocked right side. Gentle undulations on the green must be observed and the waterfall left of the putting surface adds character to this scenic portion of the course.
